The Scary Parts of Becoming Independent in a Boutique Health Business
It is July 4th party weekend and we are collectively celebrating the radical visionaries of early US of America; but, can I be honest here? It took the business minds to get this done, particularly entrepreneurial ones. Had it been a bunch of medical physicians or religious leaders of the time, especially with their scarcity and more purist, survivalist perspective of the times, everyone would be thinking expensive and what we needed was thinking around the word EXPANSIVE. Yes, we had a lot of inherent issues going on with whiteness and we did the native people wrong. That is why I clearly teach the pursuit of excellence and core leadership skills as a mature spiritual development along with a financial and personal one but…I am also keenly aware we need those who are truly there owning this and no one seems to buy in enough to see things through unless they pay to pay attention so, in my mind, there will always be a need for spiritual people in charge of big successful businesses.

Time to Be Holy in Business
I am not saying we did not need a few hundred years of better treatment of all people as people but, just like Jesus , the founding folks of America knew not to go to the houses of worship or academic philosophers to get this done on a certain urgent timeline. The everyday business men minds were needed to stock Jesus’s main work crew and that was smart because his work was setting up a generational supply route for Heaven on Earth. It was holy and it was business. It was relationship building and message on stages. They may need to sacrifice their current life comforts to pursue this by faith and become very aware of outside forces. This is very much like the group that would come together to gain national American sovereignty. They needed to be visionary thinkers. They needed to be executive level, high stakes, big reward thinkers with some wealth build skills and people management under their belt or at least an awareness of the power of it. They needed to know enough to value the metaphysical power of the mastermind. Holding space for the evolution before a revolution. Period.
If either of these catalytic group leaders they would have recruited a bunch of the formal medics of the time, or those just so smart in thinking their academic intelligence alone was the ticket, they would not have the rule breakers or risk takers. In the case of the Revolutionists, they would have been recruiting intellectually smart men from medicine who were still so small minded to write the constitution because these were men that looked at their own lives yet continued to assume that working with humans was not much different than handling livestock. We were already working at primal times. We still were still reading the Bible and were not connected to the wisdom of the East to understand a direct, spiritual maturity need to respect the role of women ( the feminine sides of themselves) in the pursuit of their happiness too. So yes, we missed out on about 200 years in the perspective of the women, the real healers of the family and social artists went and still go underrated, but…at least our founding fathers understood this societal success was basically going to be about family, money, vision, mission, purpose, and despite our best efforts to abort the term, God. Like it or not, Jesus used a lot of imperfect people to push a lot of communal prosperity promotion. Like it or not, The founding fathers were equally imperfect to the apostles collected and everyone that signed the Declaration of Independence of America was spiritually driven. They may have been religiously wounded but, despite their flaws, they knew what they were doing was an opportunity given. it was not all them and their will America came about. A founder of anything, not wanting a unity under the concept of a supreme, metaphysical supreme conscience and intelligence is indicating they are a God. That was not the intention of freedom here in America. No one was supposed to play God indicating they understood that man’s mind alone had limitations. Again, we obviously are still struggling with the capacity as humans to be better at it but, in terms of business, science, and life itself, it was all tied to spirituality the entire time.
Making money gives you choices
It took me a long time to accept money was holy. It is not a necessity but it sures makes life easier. I said it was not needed to be happy so much that I did it. I proved I did not need to own my money and have it grow to have everything I want. Then I realized that anyone can become corrupt and you can still lose money without money being important to you.
I grew up very strategic about how to achieve a lot of experiences without money. Plus there was the church trash around it and my family’s own dysfunctional power games with it. Still, somehow, I knew, Americans lost something in our soul around how we use it but that did not have to be me too. I think that is why I was drawn into bespoke entrepreneurship, not just a clinical franchise as a rehab business owner. I wanted the freedom to be the me that was already different. Through it I was able to see money is not the devil but it will bring out the devil in you. Americans have a lot of devil clearing to do. We tend to take God out of everything when we feel guilty about behaviors but then hypocritically put God into everything if we feel someone else is guilty. It is weird. It is fear based living and it is confused. I once heard Denzel Washington say Fear is corrupted Faith. That is the perfect way to describe our division of Church and state turning into a division of leadership and spirituality studies. Einstein , Franklin, Lincoln, and Jesus all understood this horrible error if humans in charge did this. The problem is, I do not have a lot of women to list here with them yet.
(Click image below for a Do it Yourself Opportunity to Jump into setting up a conversation around your ideas)
The problem wasn’t capitalism.
The problem was we chose to idolize mass consumption instead of conscious consumerism. We gamefully monetized the glutney in pursuit of wealth that lost a focus on boosting the economy quality via consumerism and personal service shares. We decided to ignore basic rights of people who work for us and forced industrialization at all costs to family and social health instead of the core values that seemed to be woven into the Constitution.
The problem wasn’t women were too emotional to lead.
The issue was women are needed in the home. Families work very well that way but we are also needed in the decision making. We do feel and we did understand how valuable we are so we get emotional when we were being treated unfairly, our family is at risk or our survival to thrive and pursue for our happiness too is threatened. Men do not understand us and get scared of that and as I said, fear corrupts faith. Somehow that has managed to make a dysfunctional split between business building and spirituality and gender to the point the most unhealthy souls are still setting themselves up to thrive in this while the most kind hearted and healthy souls are running to the hills determined to not consume a thing. Now we actually demonize the freedom to be who we want to be spreading good things because some people will call us bad people or even come out to hurt us. That is not the problem if you let spiritual development back inside business leader development and take the religion out of it. Without that ability to discern the limits and work in unity we have begun to weaponize the tools of wealth building into weapons of mass consumption instead of demonizing the persons who misused those tools of consumerism. In the end we have a world of very conscious people holding very little worldly influence and very unconscious people holding the power to neglect the basic morality of a shared human and Earth experience. That is modern life on this floating rock.
So, what if we could heal the divisions between big thinking and small minded humans?
What if business could be holy and holy people could be business people?
What if there was a space where women in the business of being whole could also learn the advanced studies of living sourced, fed, faith based, heart conscious and holy if you are whole?
What if money wasn’t your identity maker but you did see it being a powerful tool that takes on the energy ( attitude) of it’s holder?
Would you welcome having an awesome attitude to welcome some abundance today and give us some solutions out of that support?
Could we have a big enough social healing view that supports the single self employed visionary but not make it hard for others to share in the prosperity?
Can that type of person, purpose and process be produced if they had the right circles around them consistently?
I am in pursuit of self owned kingdoms looking to flourish on this land together in 2022 and beyond. The question is… are you?
I am looking for Visionaries
I know it is a big job. I know this is a little Newsletter but I also know I am learning and leading and growing relationships with it.
There is a lot of social healing to do.
There was a matter of timing to wait for.
Most of us are tired as hell.
Many of us have had to go in to deal with a major identity shift alone. This is why, to this day, I want to work with you.
I am almost 20 years into dreaming of a women’s health movement through her body, mind and soul. I grew into some of it but I still grow new branches from those original good seeds. I see a framework of one society. This all was birthed from a prenatal exercise program in 2000. What became The Belly Guru, my brand and wellness studio. The soul of that movement to change how we view women’s empowerment still sits there in the idea of birthing and women. Although not a formal company anymore, this essence pf Belly Guru is seeded in Mind-Body Enterprises. This is what women do, we multiply. We birth the lines of both the sheep and the shepherds. One seed of thought inspired in me by becoming a mother and I created a business that employed seven women and one man at one time. I was a business woman, and my Intellectual Property (IP) is worth something.
Yours is too? What is sitting in that journal or computer already?
As I move into training women into re claiming their feminine core leadership skills, it may not look like core muscle activations, but I am still rehabbing the whole person of them. Our minds have a lot of healing to do before our bodies can truly process out the generational traumas of not being poured into as future leaders and creators of relationships. I am midwifing through the difficult birth of a modern day, mothering, successful business woman that can continue in a career of healing by owning her own IP instead of just owning her body, mind and soul. She may be single or married. She may or may not birth any humans. I am supporting women pushing out the brands or programs so many others need to follow their lead and come into their communities that know how to lift each other up and work together in the freedom to pursue personal happiness. I am looking out for the futurists and radical change makers in the healthcare world, that do not want to do this alone because it is hard and there will continue to be some stones thrown at us. I have been looking at the big view of women’s health and empowerment outside of our organs for two decades now but there are few of us talking like that. I just don’t believe that meand there are few thinking like that. I have a solution for that.
Are you into the totality of a woman’s personal development like me? Are you willing to speak outside your comfort zone at times?
I know the many achieving letters before and after my name never felt like a couture gown would fit. I know the reason why now. It is because I am an entrepreneur at heart. That is my core identity and as one, that is how I need to dress when most natural. I may wear the costumes of another role I play in the moment but when I am naked, I want to play this game of entrepreneur life freedom living. Are you like me? You happened to acquire skills that freed you to pursue business with a certain mission, message, vision, goals and purpose over your life but are not quite there yet?
That is why I decided to write this weekly love letter to see who would connect on so many levels. That is what entrepreneurs do. They create the roadmaps and pathways to make connections to others who need a solution they have. They let people buy back their time with their families and themselves.
Freedom to be, not to do
I want to be very clear here. The problem I solve is the unfulfillment of doing everything but feeling like no one. Freedom is not about the freedom to DO whatever the hell you want to. That is crazy minded because humans need boundaries. We are here to become by unbecoming what we are not and we need to see when we are moving ourselves into someone else’s freedom living. We historically have not developed well in social situations where everyone is doing whatever they want to and usually that is to remain the same, with no mind about the impact on everyone else. Change is built into our cellular codes. You can’t grow and remain the same and you can’t not grow and remain immature but getting older. That is why leaders of anything need to change maturly. We need to continuously become higher and higher conscious people while we do it or else outside forces will be the executives of our lives before we know it.
Isn’t that basically the premise of every holy book, good parenting speech, good mentor’s advice or bedtime story we ever read or learned from?
That is why I see Healers in Entrepreneurship , in particular, to be the ultimate opportunity for the Holy work. The reduced and the WHOLE picture viewing. You are already aiming to be free and aware of the impact you can have on the life trajectory of another. That means you actually need the control to NOT do everything you want anytime you want to. You understand you need to master your feelings and stay inside your lane and hold faith in the process being presented so you want to work on being perceptive.
That ability to think that way is rare today. So many people are way too broken hearted and scared of loss to pursue it.
The division of church and state and that dive of it into the state of my mind around dirty money moves messed with my head. I am not alone in that. I am now in the business development circles that understand that this is not the same equity for all even if we have equal options given to play in the sandbox. It wasted my energy as a purpose driven, big lover woman with a strong desire to be a good mother to not honor I was a brown woman, with stories about that in my mind. I was a woman with belief systems around that in my soul. I dove into the game of seeing what I could create with bare minimum and compromised goals to begin with. I limited myself before society did.
As such business success was a different freedom than getting and hunting. I went into business because I wanted to be a farmer not a warrior. I wanted the freedom to be a good mom, not to do whatever I want but I can see how I might have said it in my head that way as a warrior woman. I actually just want to love and get paid for it. I want to be truly supported and not make anyone jealous of what I have or do. I see no one less equipped than me if they understand how to tap into core leadership and relationships without selling their soul. I just wanted to be present with my kids as they experienced the hardships of living and growing up but that was not the norm back in 2005. You were either career driven or Stay at home and the ones trying to be both were miserable. I did not like those boxes. Now I don’t like other boxes. That is what entrepreneurs do. They create new boxes to play in and check off for a while. What I needed to do, which I did not realize for many years, was check my box off as a proud business woman who might not be making a six figure salary. I needed to check off I was a great mom and a mom that was a great business woman despite that because my wealth build was focused on tradition, connection with family and when I was there in that zone I needed to be there better and not feel like a failing business woman. I needed a space to figure out that harmony was holy. I am not afraid to say I failed at it for a long time. I just really had no ideal models. I really could not be a mothering wife and a mothering parent.
I was a business woman that wanted to also be a mom making that choice to see if my husband wanted to partner with me and I did not realize that our dual entrepreneurship and parenting goals would place a real big strain on our personal relationship. I was not a woman that always dreamed of being the perfect wife. I was not a mom who wanted to give herself some independence by owning a business. I couldn’t help people that did not want the help and wasted energy trying to. I had to give big and let them go suffering sooner. We all needed to find someone else that did what we wanted sooner. I needed sisters that knew all those personal revelations plus home life revelations and service based business parts get messy as CEO. Every woman I new was not blending it the way I wanted to. They seemed like perfection was the only way to get it. I did the best with who I was at the time. In fact, when I went to research how other mothers did it so perfectly, all I got was Multi level Marketing options. While convenient for partial commitments, it was not something I would really ever own rights on. When I went to look into how Physical Therapists did it differently than the big corporate clinics or small one person shows based on manual care, the closest I got was the Pilates therapists working with the Ballet Theater in NYC or the manual therapists working on Wall Street stress and getting lots of financial success releasing pain from the issues inside the tissues of corporate pressured souls. There were a few ambitious ortho therapists venturing into partnerships with gyms but only as a franchisee of a chain of corporate PT physician owned centers so I don’t count on that model feeling ethical to me. I worked in many as an Athletic Trainer/ Physio and none of what I saw was pretty. I saw that life as a sell out. So, I went into my own yoga inspired wellness center for pregnant women and moms which quickly moved into their emotionally struggling female teens. I opened in the Bible belt on top of it. Not the best decision but hey, I moved down to the South for the money choices. I went for the brand promotion because I was strapped for cash. I basically did the work to shift the mindset around making fitness by a licensed healthcare pro something valid because I wanted some like minded, licensed friends to talk business with.
The problem was, there was such a division between who had a business mind and who didn’t back then. It was based solely on the where they worked and the clothes they wore or the care we would drive in ( MiniVan mom ). I like many women, never realized how much of a CEO I was becoming because I was focused on being a mom. I did not realize the mom I was because I was thinking sometimes like a business owner. Relationship is huge part of business making but the solopreneur mom doesn’t have the outlets other career women in bigger corporate and visionary social thinker circles do.
You are the CEO of Your Life and the Kids and in the Business of Partners so Start Acting Like It Already!
Boy do I wish someone had said this to me so I am saying it to you now. There are way too many boutique owning yoga fitness or yogic healers that got destroyed by this pandemic and all the pressures to pivot that came with it because no one said this to them either. I was so happy I saw the wave back in 2015 and began to digital world partnership pivot. Back in 2019, getting creative with wellness understood we were post industrial age kingdom making but, we had yet to rectify the being holy in pursuit of it. I think this past few years opened that portal. As we all were moving into information shares as product and testing digital land acquisitions, the ones becoming more intimate community focused for their service supply early are doing quite okay today. I hate how naive I was about my freedom potential back twenty years ago. I hate that I was financially betrayed in 2013-2017 and had no energy to push forward in 2018-2019 when I finally stopped the bleed barely alive. I wish so bad I would have known some of my present women entrepreneur life mentors now but the reality is, many are younger than me. Those I did find online in 2015 were ahead of me but we all had to go through the transformation of 2020 -2022. The focus needs to shift to today and tomorrow. We need to move into this unknown visionary, more metaphysical , meta verse moving out of the spiritual world pursuits and into the worldly business realities.
So, if you are reading this, great. You have a futuristic mindset too!
You understand there is a lot of unknowns but you also understand you seem to be someone that knows something bigger is out there too. You got faith. Back in 2005, there were so very few of us to make taking the chance to be wrong using it, worth it. I never grew too big for my britches. Who was I too preach? It was basically a decision by me to take on the risk enough of being sued without much in the rule books. I needed to follow other professions making a website to sell direct to the public. There were only a couple of licensed providers and literally no physician’s I knew, selling this physioyoga or proactive wellness as a part of a surgical plan or birthing plan yet. That meant it was grey, which to most of our high compliant, analytic, colleagues meant, they couldn’t. This is another time like that. So many people do not pursue an idea because no one clearly gives them permission under their licenses or certifications or roles in their family to do so. To us entrepreneurs, this grey means there must be a way. To an entrepreneur, grey means there is no rule against us doing it. Sure there is risk; but death of the idea is the only other option.
Curvy Hustlers give things life. We breathe into people, passions, purpose. Death is not an option. Not until we at least try to see something through and evolve it. That is freedom to pursue happiness. That is what July 4th weekends are celebrating and people keep sacrificing their life for right? It feels almost ungrateful to not jump from employed mind into entrepreneurship if you have a vision that will birth a lot of support and not limit resources for others.
Is this the kind of freedom you want? I warn you, the work is not easy. There is sacrifice and you will see a lot of your inner demons pop up but… I never want to have to go back to the chains of someone else’s control over how I use my gifts. I do not want to swallow them or water them down anymore.
If this is you too, leave me a comment.
What part of this visionary leadership into global wellbeing are you ready to pursue?
