I decided to try out a Sunday night evening send to break the news that you are just going to have to recession-proof your business now. Period
No fear, no force, just full-on faith in the way you do what you do.
You are going to need to own your unique value alignment and truly want to network with your potential customers, past clients, and total strangers with a strategy regardless of how much you need the money, how much you don’t want clients to have to prioritize and choose where to spend their money and the environmental, political, healthcare or economic chaos around you.
Today being Called a P**ZZIE is Favorable.
The tides have changed. There is a hell of a lot more women this week taking executive positions. So, yeah, if I am worth anything to my women’s leadership followers, those looking for a freedom workstyle, and the business builder community of healers I want to gather into a stronger referral network, I must be clear about my character, and values as the Founder of this business.
To be clear, congrats are in order. As of today being called a P or a B for taking a stand about Roe V. Wade, no matter what side you are on, shows your audience that you are a courageous leader and you likely don’t care what they label you if you took a public stance on this.
As a leader, leading from the front or back, you are someone that is willing to position yourself as a first voice, and they, as your community of followers needs to decide if you are stronger or weaker in value to them. That is the difference between the leaders and the followers. Leaders position themselves to have their beliefs challenged while followers tend to want to keep things as they are with minimal decision to challenge their beliefs. If you are reading this you have decided to be a thought leader or role model teacher, healing guide, or coach in some way. We all have our roles and my role is to support health and wellness leaders, particularly the women, and not only that, my niche is the medicine women that are helping people in pain and dysfunctional relationships with their body, mind, soul, family, neighbors while navigating their own behaviors, and current personal identity.
That being said, it is imperative that anyone that truly feels they have been doing the personal development see the service needs, design a program, a practice, or a process by which they can get people around the globe back into a healthy relationship with their body, minds, careers, family, finances, and spiritual connection are 100% essential services.

First off, there is a market for you regardless.
Lucky you. Health and wealth are going to be wanted in all of the worst times but that does not mean your personal and business service positioning and pricing will not need a constant behavioral change strategy. As a businesswoman or anyone with a message to get on as many stages as possible, recessions are where the most strategic figures stand out. You never know when you will need to start getting more exposure to get a better salary or new job level offer. So there is value in personal branding as an employee or entrepreneur that wants choices. The power of your own audience and list-build strategy is priceless in a recession. Low-Risk High Reward Advice for Recession Proofing Your Business
The first thing I would recommend and what I have advised for the past three years inside MBBA is to figure out a way to be known for something special in your industry. Not for popularity but for authority over the conversation and an audience match to your character, and level of innovation. Skills are great in yoga or therapy but guess what, everybody with your credentials is selling the same solutions to the same problem list and anyone of those colleagues can have those professional skills if they pay for them. Your style and the experience of you or your community on the other hand? THAT is the want.
I learned that even more where a set handful of “Regulars” would always attend MBBA live rounds just for the experience of our Wednesday energy circle and masterminding. It was not surprising that those most consistently there for the others and themselves did the personal leaps that moved the dial on their platform development and programming. How can you design the culture of your world? How can you get to become the director of your very own metaverse through the rest of this summer? Do not wait until 2023.
I did not realize this but this is actually how I DESIGNED A MARKET for women’s empowerment at their most vulnerable moments of transition from maiden to motherhood for my Belly Guru business in 2005. That seed in holistic women’s empowerment sold the idea of me being under the umbrella of mindset coaching and women’s health and empowerment. That idea carried me over my hiatus while my mom was dying by keeping my conversations relevant. I realized I was one of the few, like maybe three or four on Twitter in the PT business community, not dismissing the idea of a higher-profit boutique-themed private practice. I showed up talking in those chats and that added a layer of like or dis-likability which landed me getting featured in a book.

Completely disregard the insurance cuts plaguing the entire medical community
Leverage off being featured on other people’s stages and even set up referral partners if you need to downsize

The motivation to go online with private classes over Saas fitness platforms in 2014 and in Kajabi in 2016 as I evolved my all-in-one program store platform. The list gave me a trial audience to survey and offer while social media made me channel in my inner Oprah and became my talk show.
To rebrand under basically one Umbrella.
In many ways, Earning your MBBA is like a masterclass with Mama / Manager Kris Jenner of the Kardasians. You will have a way to take one message and extend it on your own reality show. Hate her or love her but she birth tons of new business opportunities for herself, all the sisters, and friends she pick up along the way. How about I be your new mama/business manager?
Why expand your lower ticket to a higher ticket program during a politically triggered, healthcare debate at the foot of a global recession?
Well, that’s life, and every day we open our eyes and take a breath and decide if we are grateful or pissed off we are being asked to live it.
On top of that, our attitude about that ask will influence any asks we make to others. So, decide. What are you going to do?
Lisa Johnson, a strong business mentor for many women online puts it best in a post on social media.
“Yes I know we’re all told not to think about it and don’t watch the news and pretend nothing negative is ever happening in life so it doesn’t affect our mindset but if you’re serious about having a business, you can’t afford to do that. “
And as she advises her followers, no matter how you decide how to play out the Covid Comas we are all in, the reality is that we ARE headed towards a recession and that means buyer behavior will change on top of all the transformational changes we just witnessed since March of 2020.
So this week’s Love Letter will close with a list of five key things for you to do this week to prep that is simple and sane. Like I said above, this is the advice that kept the Belly Guru Brand covered through the 2008 -2012 recession but had I been aware I was using it, I would have grown, not shrunken down in 2013.
Even half-assed, this mindset and approach to the curves of life protected me as I had to buy myself out of my original five-year lease on space when I went in too big and also after taking off a year and needing to reignite completely after my mom died of Ovarian Cancer.
You need to master sales skills which are essentially communication, relational, and leadership level consistency, and reliability. The best time was a decade ago with me. The second best time is today with me.
Don’t get married to the deal and be decisive in who you decide to sell and take on as a client. Some will get the MVP version and some will get the DIY version you offer and some will be immediately passed to a referral partner who will refer people who are not the best match for you.
Never go against the family, meaning this one. If you attend a workshop or apply to the MBBA Live Leadership Club you are going to be asked what you bring to the table in integrity. If you are truly ready to have a million-dollar mindset then you should also be mature enough to be a conversation keeper. Trust and abundant energy are the core of family and this sisterhood will feel like family in the inner circle memberships.
Know your Passion, Talents, Skills, and Values before you start selling, and definitely know the same of your most ideal clients
Do it scared but courageously convicted. You need to want the outcome. Fear of success is real when you do not believe you are the identity of the person that can handle what you believe comes with a life of that success level.
Rest assured, if you keep opening and reading these each week, you will be looking at your personal development, purpose, and pricing. Lisa Johnson also mentioned that “it’s the mid tier that suffers. High-end still attracts buyers as they take longer to be affected.” and of course, the lower-end offers will look more appealing to those struggling even more with making this investment in themselves so start packaging up and offering what you got now and be prepared to pivot. for more reasonable pricing for what they feel they still need, so the low end tends to survive.”
Now is the time to strengthen your relationship with your clients, process, mindset and money. You will need everything I teach inside the 8 modules of Mind-Body Brand Academy. Make sure the people that you already have in your audience know you’re there for them and do it with the intention to survey regularly and continue to segment your email or texting/ DM lists.
